Flammie lock off!

Finished painting up Flammie finally.  Or at least, the effort/reward ratio has diminished to the point where I stop working.  \o/

Side shot!

Back shot!

Close up!

The eyes wound being smaller than they were supposed to be.  And the bloody feathers took FOREVER to paint, since they each required four bands of colour... multipled by roughly forty feathers per wing, which needed both sides painted, often requiring some elaborate wrist-twisting to reach (especially for the backs of the front wings and the front of the back wings  -____-)  Overall, I'm still not satisfied with the results, but it is at least a step up from the last statue!  The best part about this one is that is actually free standing - never did figure out how exactly to display the previous attempt.  Square could of course rectify this by releasing Secret of Mana merch.

You very well might! You should try. Considering your cosplay work, I'd say there's a good chance you'd be excellent at it!

Flammie turned out absolutely lovely. I'm very impressed by every wingtip and sdfjslk, how many are on her exactly anyway?!

Four wings, average of forty feathers a wing, so about 160 I guess? Didn't actually do a proper count.

oh god, i can only try to picture the angle acrobatics required to get under those feathers. xD; incredible work! 8D ♥

It was crazy! At times the entire body was involved. Would have looked pretty amusing to anyone watching. I CLEARLY DIDN'T PLAN IT VERY WELL. ♥

It's been really neat watching this project unfold from start to finish. I'm particularly fond of the wings - the detail in the feathers (both in the sculpture itself and the paint) is lovely. I also actually like the smaller eyes - it's a little more badass, somehow.

Smaller eyes = more badass? XD Interesting, but sort of true! I'm reminded of all the times when they gave Kirby angry eyebrows for the American release of his games.

Somehow. I don't really have an explanation for it, but my logic is obviously flawless. XD;

You know, I never even put thought into Kirby, but seeing it side by side, it's absolutely true. Us Americans are so addicted to badassery, I guess. (Which is more flawless logic, obviously.)

*___* Ama-azing!! If you had to estimate, roughly how much time did you put into this little endeavour? XD;;
Nov. 17th, 2010 03:24 am (UTC)
^_^ Thanks. Hmm, for a rough estimate, I probably spent an average of an hour a day on it for roughly six weeks... so probably 40-50 hours all up?
Nov. 17th, 2010 03:32 am (UTC)
:O! Dedication!! Haha, so what's next?
Nov. 17th, 2010 03:39 am (UTC)
XD The craft itch has been fully scratched for a while... I don't know! Back to writing, probably. I'm plate spinning way too many projects...
Nov. 17th, 2010 03:44 am (UTC)
:O Any chance I can entice you into writing more FFVII fic? *enables* >D

(though I totally understand taking on too much...ugh)
Nov. 17th, 2010 03:53 am (UTC)
XD No need to entice! I'm already writing one... but it's being a pain, so it's been slow-going. My writing momentum tends to resemble a bell curve. :/

Oooh, excitement! I'm looking forward to it! ♥

I bow to you awesome art. You clearly are a talent. When I did that sort of thing, I had nowhere near your patience.

She's got really soulful eyes.

Thank you kindly. Patience does appear to be the determining factor in this kind of art. It has engendered a newfound respond for sculptures of all kinds.
